At Cerence, we are always looking for opportunities to shine a spotlight on the countless stories from across our global teams. Recently, we had a chance to sit down with Christophe Couvreur, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Business Operations. Christophe has been with Cerence and its preceding companies for over 25 years and currently focuses on corporate development and strategic partnerships as well as business operations.
What’s your favorite thing about working at Cerence?
Cerence has a lot of very smart people. I like to work with smart people. Also, Cerence is working on very cool technology... AI, Speech... not just speech but AI more broadly. And those are things I really love. I love technology. I love working with smart people and this is the perfect place for that.
What’s kept you at Cerence?
It’s been a long journey for me – almost 25 years at Cerence and the companies that preceded it, and what’s kept me here is that the work is always interesting. There is always something new coming, some changes, some new opportunities. I like that. I like to learn new things. I like to get engaged in new things, and that’s what’s kept me here.
Do you have a favorite moment from your time at Cerence?
I think it was the first time I had a product shipping and was involved with a customer. So in the automotive world, the first time I could point to a car and say, “Hey I worked on this. This is my work here in this car.”
What are you most looking forward to in the future at Cerence?
I think we are going through a transformation of the company and the industry. There’s a lot of new things happening with AI today, that also creates a lot of new opportunities and really looking at how those new AI developments, those new capabilities that are being brought to the car will enhance the user experience and how we can be part of that at Cerence.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
When I’m not working, I’m probably spending time with my family. I have 5 kids. Or I like sports, I like outdoor sports, I do a lot of running, a bit of cycling, a bit of swimming. So you may find me running outside or running in the mountains, which is one of my favorite things to do.
